Creative Dressing in the Back Room
22 February, 2008
So why should the day-to-day stuff like brushing one's teeth and getting dressed be a dull 5-minute task when they can be an art form? The source of Adrian's creativity is doing one thing while giving total concentration to something else. Teo's strong point in dressing is his stubbornness.
- Pajama pants come off, pajama pants back on. Comment from Dad, then Adrian loses focus and does it again.
- Clothes on without taking pajamas off. Dad finds out on the way to school -- decision made to leave as is.
- Shoes on the wrong feet. Low marks for creativity. More respectable when discovered that they've been that way all day.
- Both legs through the same pant hole. Hop around a bit until Dad says joke is over.
- Three layers of socks on. "Well, Teo, now you'll fit better in Adrian's shoes that you've been wearing the last three days."
- Underpants on with the waist through the leg hole. Comment from Dad. Teo refuses to admit that it's uncomfortable that way, and wears it to school the same way the next day.
- Monday is gym day: unmonitored dressing. Adrian comes home without undershirt and underpants.
- Teo puts his pants on upside down, connected at the feet, and follows it with a funny walk.
- Both kids have put their underpants on backwards after the bath: not a coordinated effort, just by chance. Neither admits to lack of comfort, so off they go to bed.
- Frustration mounting in the back room. Dad looks in. Adrian near tears. "It won't go on, Dad!" Dad:"That´s where your arm goes, fruitcake, not your head."
